Jim Rohn tells us that the 'how' gets easier as the 'what' gets bigger (or better defined). So start to fill in your dreams. First, scan your list of dreams and begin to turn them into goals by putting a time frame on them; note whether they are one-, three-, five- or ten-year goals. Then, using Chart 2, arrange your goals among the six key areas of your life: - Career
- Health
- Income
- Education
- Family/friends
- Spiritual
While you are a student, your Career may cover such part-time jobs as doing a paper round, working Saturday mornings in a shop or supermarket, or holiday work of some kind. But your dream ten years on should relate to your long-term employment. Health covers sport, and your general fitness level. Income refers to savings goals, as well as part time earnings and long-term expectations. Education means those studies you are doing now, plus plans for ongoing self-education after you finish school or graduate. The area of Family includes your relationship with anyone with whom you have a close relationship, whether or not you are still living at home. The Spiritual aspect of your life gives it true meaning by allowing God to play a role in what you do. |
